So, why, yes, it has been a while. What can we say? One supposes that the well-attested to music industry downturn has had its effect on humble little Casa Nueva, and that proverbial "one" who doth suppose may have divined rightly. But we were not and are not a company hung up on the all-mighty lek, so don't expect too much in our rate or our mission to change. Evolve, perhaps. Improve, possibly. We are certainly considering a variety of projects and media in the near future. Watch this space...
We do understand that some of you have grown fond of our staff, most of whom have had to seek meaningful employment elsewhere in the interim. Here's the updates...
Alex, our awesome shipping clerk and resident black metal and avant-garde noise expert has decided to dedicate himself full time to his own heavy band, Rot Rot Rot. In addition to mailing your orders with care and precision, he also introduced us to Boris and Fushitsusha. He will be missed, although our ears are still ringing.
Our publicist and promotions coordinator Emmy was our in-house conduit to all things indiepop. If it wasn't for her, the Smittens, Allo Darlin', the Summer Cats, Standard Fare, the Acid House Kings, the Legends, Radio Department, and so much more would have passed us by. She has left to focus on her primary career as a high school swim coach, and we wish her hairless pupils much speed. Go Wolverines!
If you ever had any problems with our website, you probably talked to Brian. He was a wizz with html, flash, and anything with a point-0 at the end of it. He also couldn't resist vintage country and bluegrass music, and consequently, neither can we. Red Allen, anyone? He's also the most marketable among us, and is out there concocting code for some big firm or other.
Dawn was our office manager, and she parlayed her administrative savvy right downtown, and now works in a building that has more elevators than Tom Cruise's shoe closet. She was sweet enough to leave behind her duplicate copies of Never Mind the Bollucks and the soundtrack to Gigi.
Lastly, our fearless leader has not departed. He's just become subsumed into musical mists, remanifesting at random shows, swap-meets, record shops, and bike trails around town. Fanboy passion doesn't dissolve entirely, and new things will happen. Trust us.
